FlameRobin is an open source tool created to easily administrate databases in Firebird. First of all, for those who do not know, Firebird is a relational database that runs on different platforms. The success behind Firebird is its support for procedures and triggers, as well as the high performance it provides for the scarce amount of resources it takes.
However, as with many databases, there is no direct interface to interact with Firebird – as it usually happens with SQL databases. Here is where FlameRobin comes in - this program is designed to be an administration tool specifically designed for Firebird. However, those in charge of the maintenance of the project dictated that, much like Firebird, FlameRobin must be lightweight (take up low resources), cross-platform (basically all platforms supported by Firebird), and Open Source. The result is a small application that offers extensive functionality in handling FDB files.
You can register as many servers or databases as you want, and you can manage all of them in one window. You can edit commands, triggers, and procedures and test them, as well as manage objects and create backups. All in a program that weights less than 2 MB. If you use Firebird, then there is no way you should not be using FlameRobin.
